Buddha Shakyamuni Empowerment

Buddha Shakyamuni Empowerment

Supreme Unchanging Friend

Saturday, May 5 | 10am-3pm

Even after 2,500 years Buddha Shakyamuni continues to touch the hearts of people of this world. His profound teachings on wisdom and compassion address our deepest wish to lead a meaningful life free from worries and problems. If we take Buddha’s advice to heart we will find practical solutions to our daily problems and gradually develop his qualities of profound peace and happiness, compassion for everyone, and wisdom. We will also gain a supreme and unchanging friend who will always be there to guide us.

What is an Empowerment?
An Empowerment is a special ceremony during which we receive blessings from Buddha Shakyamuni, which heal our mind, draw us closer to him, and awaken our Buddha nature. These blessings help us to come under Buddha’s loving care and protection in our daily life. An empowerment also includes a series of guided meditations and practical teachings. The afternoon session following the empowerment will include a practical teaching and meditation on what it means to rely upon Buddha as our Spiritual Guide.

It is traditional to bring an offering for an empowerment. Examples are fruit, sweets, biscuits, incense or candles.

“In general, “Buddha” means “Awakened One”, someone who has awakened from the sleep of ignorance and sees things as they really are… There are many people who have become Buddhas in the past, and many people will become Buddhas in the future.”  Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, from Introduction to Buddhism
