The Buddhist Way of Loving Kindness

Online Weekend Retreat  |  August 21-23

This retreat will be guided by our Resident Teacher, Kelsang Chöyang.

This weekend retreat is an opportunity to engage in meditation to deepen your understanding of Buddha’s teachings on loving kindness. The sessions are all guided, so even if you are new to Buddhism and meditation you will gain some practical understanding that can be integrated into your daily life. By becoming familiar with love, compassion, and patience we can develop more peaceful and joyful relationships with others and transform difficult situations into something positive and meaningful.

These teachings and meditations are based on the book, The New Eight Steps to Happiness, which were presented at the Kadampa International Summer Festival in England. All sessions will include Prayers for Meditation to help us develop a positive intention.

Upcoming Classes

Tuesday Evening Classes  |  7:00-8:15pm

Be Kind to Yourself

These classes will be taught by our Resident Teacher, Kelsang Chöyang

Being kind to ourself is not always easy. Due to many bad habits of judging and critical thoughts we can easily start thinking that we’ll never be good enough or that we’re somehow failing in life. Spiritual progress depends on a healthy view of ourself. In other words, being happy with ourself is key to growing into the person that we can and want to be. Maybe we wish for a more loving attitude, or the ability to take things less personally. Or, perhaps we wish to be less resentful and have the capacity to forgive more readily and move on. These are just a few examples of what is possible when we learn more about the working of our own mind, and then train to identify and adopt a more healthy and happy view of ourself.

This three-week course is ideal for beginners. If you have been wondering whether to try our classes on Buddhism and meditation these sessions are an ideal place to begin.

Class Fee: $12 and for those experiencing financial difficulties at this time: $6
You may register for these three classes as a package for $25. Click here.

Maintaining Harmonious Relationships

With our Resident Teacher, Kelsang Chöyang

Why is it so difficult to keep our relationships stable and harmonious? Why are they so susceptible to breaking down? Good relationships (whether with friends, co-workers, or family) take time and energy to maintain, but the focus needs to be on our own state of mind and not just on the outer circumstances. The two delusions, or negative minds, that contribute greatly to disharmony are attachment and anger. Putting energy into reducing these negative influences, as taught by Buddha, is guaranteed to decrease frustration and disappointment, and build up appreciation and love.
