Special holiday get-together

Festive Potluck Party 2024

Thursday December 19 |  5 pm -8 pm

Kadampa Meditation Centre Ottawa
879 Somerset Street West

We are very thrilled to be announcing a holiday-season gathering at KMC Ottawa. Everyone is welcome  to come, including friends and family.

This is a wonderful opportunity to meet the KMC Ottawa community and re-connect with friends and to meet others in the KMC Ottawa community.

One way to create a strong harmonious community, or Sangha, is to truly appreciate the good qualities and kindnesses of one another. To promote this, we thought we could put into practice what Steve Grover is teaching in The Joy of Giving on Saturday Dec 7th  1/2 day course. During that course we learn Buddhas wisdom that giving is primarily a mental action – a virtuous determination to give things such as our love. We will be continuing with a simplified version our newly introduced Secret Sangha activity instead of Secret Santa. Sangha means Spiritual community - one that encourages one another and shows a good example to follow. The Secret Sangha activity is a lovely and unique opportunity to anonymously appreciate another Sangha member- even if you don't know them (yet), it's possible to participate. It’s a gift of loving kindness.

Another way to support a strong harmonious community is to share food. This event is a pot-luck whereby people bring something to share. Shared food must be vegetarian, peanut-free, & alcohol free. Due to allergens and food sensitivities, it's ideal if food ingredients are labelled when applicable, (e.g. gluten-free; vegan etc...).

PLEASE RSVP and in so doing, advise if you wish to participate in the Secret Sangha cherishing activity (if responding for multiple people, encourage them to RSVP themselves in order to maintain anonymity). On Monday December 16th, you'll receive an email with a secretly random-drawn name of another participant. Think about the good qualities that you admire about that person and write them down anonymously on a greeting card. Bring the prepared card in a sealed named envelope for them to take home at the end of the night to read. You are then able to take home your own anonymous greeting card to read!!

Please RSVP to Khandro, ( admin@meditateinottawa.org ) by Dec 15th if you'd like to participate int he Secret Sangha.

RSVP for only the potluck participation is encouraged but not mandatory.

See you there!

As conscientious Dharma practitioners, we should observe our own shortcomings instead of being preoccupied with those of other people.
