On June 4th, Turning the Wheel of Dharma Day, we celebrate the 90th birthday of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche. On this auspicious day, we offer our faith to our kind Spiritual Guide and Founder of The New Kadampa Tradition in the form of a one day retreat.
In each of the three retreat sessions we will use the prayer booklet called The Hundreds of Deities of the Joyful Land According to Highest Yoga Tantra, and insert the special prayer, Request to the Holy Spiritual Guide Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso from his Faithful Disciples. Contained within this prayer is our Guru’s name mantra which we will recite for approximately 20 minutes. Reciting the name mantra of our Spiritual Guide helps us to draw closer to him and creates a vast amount of merit.
Everyone is welcome to attend this unique event.
If you need to obtain a copy of either of these booklets, you'll have the opportunity to do so when you reach the registration page for this retreat. Kelsang Chöyang is the Resident Teacher at Joyful Land Buddhist Centre. She has studied under Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche for twenty-five years, and taught in British Columbia, California and Toronto before coming to Ottawa. Chöyang is known for her sincere & practical approach to integrating Buddhism into daily life. Her teachings are powerful and inspiring.
