An away retreat in Arnprior, for everyone

Finding Focus ~
with Meditation & Mantra

with Buddhist monk & Teacher

Gen Kelsang Thekchen

Fri Nov 27 ~ Sun Nov 29

at Galilee Centre

398 John Street North in Arnprior, Ontario

In a world full of distractions, we need the inner clarity that comes from concentration— a clarity that allows us to focus on positive states of mind.

Discover the potential of your mind for inner calm, focus, lucidity, and strength. These are just some of the key benefits of developing true concentration.

In this silent weekend meditation retreat we will combine our breathing with the powerful mental recitation of the mantra OM AH HUM, which is called the “Mantra of all Buddhas.” Breathing meditation functions to make our mind calm and peaceful, but this meditation has added advantages such as improving our good heart of compassion and increasing our energy for spiritual practice. If done regularly, our mind gradually becomes more positive and controlled and it causes our potential for enlightenment to ripen.

Throughout the retreat, special emphasis will be placed on developing Bodhichitta — the precious wish to become a Buddha for the benefit of all living beings. Through guided meditations and teachings you will be guided to transform your quiet meditation sessions into a heartfelt aspiration: “May I attain full enlightenment so that I may lead all beings to lasting happiness and freedom.”

Highlights of the retreat:

  • Guided meditation sessions with Kadampa Buddhist monk, Gen Kelsang Thekchen

  • Teachings on how to overcome distractions, improve concentration and how to develop and maintain pure intentions

  • A rare opportunity to remain in silence, which provides the perfect conditions for developing the inner peace of concentration.

  • Wonderful vegetarian meals

  • Beautiful natural surroundings overlooking the Ottawa River

Testimonials from those who've attended our away retreats

"Retreat is a precious opportunity to let go of daily concerns and 'go inside'.  When we have the conditions to focus on spiritual practice in a retreat setting we can build our experience of 'calm and clear' minds which brings lasting benefits in and out of meditation in our daily life."    ~  Jane Douglas

"Retreats with KMCO always leave me feeling more at ease with myself and with my place in the world.  Such a great chance to refresh and recharge!"  ~ Steve Grover

"The Galilee Centre holds a very special spiritual energy. Surrounded by forest, walking trails, and a quiet private beach, it offers the perfect environment to slow down, turn inward, and rest in contemplation...  It was truly a gift to be there, and I would warmly encourage anyone to give themselves the opportunity to attend a retreat like this."
